Location and Geography
Windsor Park is situated in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, with coordinates 51°00′18″N 114°04′35″W. The neighborhood is bordered by 50 Avenue S to the north, Macleod Trail to the east, 58 Avenue S to the south, and is flanked to the west by the prestigious Calgary Golf & Country Club as well as the Elbow River. The community lies at an elevation of 1,070 meters. The total area of Windsor Park is relatively compact, covering only 0.7 square kilometers (0.3 square miles).
History and Development
The community began its development in the early 1940s, establishing itself with unique charm and a welcoming atmosphere. It was annexed to Calgary in 1951, and since then, it has evolved into a mature neighborhood. Windsor Park is strategically located near the Chinook Centre, a major shopping hub in the southeast of the neighborhood, adding to the area’s allure.
Demographics
The population of Windsor Park stood at 3,982 according to the 2006 census. However, by the 2012 municipal census, the population saw an increase to 4,126 residents living in 2,421 dwellings. This marked a 6.9% increase from the 2011 figure of 3,858. The population density in 2012 was quite high, at 3,170 people per square kilometer.
