Nestled in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, Silverado is a serene residential neighbourhood known for its picturesque settings and proximity to the renowned equestrian sports facility, Spruce Meadows.

Geographic Location

Situated at coordinates 50°53′09″N 114°04′15″W, Silverado is strategically positioned near Calgary’s southern edge, bordered by Stoney Trail to the north, Sheriff King Street to the west, 194 Avenue S.W. to the south, and Spruce Meadows to the east. The community stands at an elevation of 1,065 m (3,494 ft), embracing a sprawling land area of 5.1 km² (2.0 sq mi).

Population and Demographics

According to the City of Calgary’s 2012 municipal census, Silverado housed a population of 5,136, residing in 1,898 dwellings. This reflected an 18.4% increase from its 2011 population of 4,337, showcasing the area’s growing appeal. The community boasts a population density of 1,007/km² (2,608/sq mi).

LRT Network Expansion

Future plans for Silverado include the addition of two new LRT stations at 210 Avenue as part of an extension of the Red Line (Calgary). However, the City of Calgary has not yet established timelines or funding for this expansion.
