Location and Boundaries

Huntington Hills is strategically located and is bounded by Beddington Boulevard to the north, Deerfoot Trail and the Nose Creek to the east, 64 Avenue N to the south, and Nose Hill Park and 14 Street W to the west. Centre Street runs directly through the neighbourhood, providing easy access to different parts of the city.

History and Development

The land on which Huntington Hills stands was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1961, and the neighbourhood was officially established in 1967. Over the years, it has developed into a community with a strong sense of belonging among residents.

Demographics

According to the City of Calgary’s 2012 municipal census, Huntington Hills had a population of 13,213, residing in 5,580 dwellings. This represented a slight decrease of 0.5% from its 2011 population of 13,279. With a land area of 4.8 km2 (1.9 sq mi), the neighbourhood had a population density of 2,753/km2 (7,130/sq mi) in 2012.

Residents in Huntington Hills had a median household income of $53,168 in 2000. The neighbourhood had 19.5% of its residents living with low income and 20.5% of its residents were immigrants. Regarding housing, 17.3% of the buildings were condominiums or apartments, and 34.2% of the housing was used for renting.
