Location and Boundaries
Greenview is strategically bounded to the north by 64 Avenue N, to the east by Deerfoot Trail, to the south by McKnight Boulevard and Edmonton Trail, and to the west by 14 Street W. History and Development
Originally a part of the Thorncliffe/Greenview neighbourhood, Greenview was established as a separate community in 1991. It was then divided into Thorncliffe, North Haven, and Greenview, each with its unique characteristics. Today, Greenview is a thriving community represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 4 councillor.
Demographics
In the 2012 municipal census conducted by the City of Calgary, Greenview had a population of 1,975 living in 1,120 dwellings, reflecting a 1% increase from its 2011 population of 1,956. The community has a population density of 4,000/km² (10,200/sq mi).
Residents in Greenview had a median household income of $45,898 in 2000, with 19% of the residents living below the low-income threshold. The immigrant population constituted 20.6% of the residents, contributing to the community’s diversity. Housing in Greenview is diverse, with 48.5% of the buildings being condominiums or apartments, and 65.4% of the housing units were rented.
