Eagle Ridge stands as an affluent and exclusive residential neighbourhood, perched on a peninsula within the Glenmore Reservoir in Calgary’s southwest quadrant. Eagle Ridge is recognized as one of Canada’s wealthiest neighbourhoods, ranking 18th nationally and 3rd in Calgary in 2014. However, it remains one of Calgary’s smallest communities by population.

Eagle Ridge spans a compact 0.4 km² (0.15 sq mi) area, housing a population of 302 as per the 2019 civic census. The neighbourhood experienced a slight population decrease from its 2018 figures. Over 90% of the dwellings are single-family homes, supplemented by mid-rise condominium buildings, resulting in a population density of 755/km².
Residents enjoy a median household income of $263,754, with 62% of private households earning at least $200,000 annually. The community has a significant immigrant population, predominantly from Europe and the Americas, and exhibits a higher rate of bilingualism in English and French compared to the rest of Calgary.
History
Eagle Ridge’s history is rich, with indigenous occupation dating back to the end of the last ice age. The area was once part of Sam Livingston’s settlement, a pioneer in agriculture and cattle raising. Following Livingston’s death in 1897, his family continued to inhabit the area until it was subdivided in 1960 by the Kelwood Corporation. Eagle Ridge also holds the distinction of hosting Calgary’s first condominium, Covenant House.

The neighbourhood’s seclusion, provided by the Glenmore Reservoir and 14 Street W, offers a tranquil living environment. Yet, it is well-connected and close to a variety of attractions, including the Heritage Park Historical Village, Heritage Marina beach, North Glenmore Park, Earl Grey Golf Club, and the Glenmore Sailing Club. The area is also served by the CKE Community Association, representing the interests of Eagle Ridge alongside Chinook Park and Kelvin Grove.
