Historical Development

In the 1870s, the land that would become Cliff Bungalow was owned by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR), primarily housing CPR employees due to its proximity to the company’s headquarters and railyards. The community experienced gradual annexation to the City of Calgary from 1906 to 1912, officially establishing itself in 1907. However, it wasn’t until the 1970s that the area adopted the name “Cliff Bungalow.” In 1935, a re-zoning initiative allowed for denser residential developments, shaping the neighbourhood’s unique architectural landscape.

As per the City of Calgary’s 2012 municipal census, Cliff Bungalow housed 1,936 residents in 1,377 dwellings, marking a 1.3% population increase from the previous year.
